Mirandira Vocational School
The tourism school in Uganda offers a holistic and practical education for young people who want to work in the tourism sector. In the first year, students acquire in-depth knowledge about Africa, its history, culture, geography, national parks, and wildlife. Particular emphasis is placed on a deep understanding of the sustainable use of nature and resources. Through excursions, internships, and a national park internship, they gain valuable practical experience early on. The second year focuses on application: topics such as sustainable tourism, tour planning, safety, first aid, and legal principles are covered intensively. In addition, participants acquire practical skills such as basic mechanical knowledge and obtain a driver's license. Step by step, they are prepared to work independently in the tourism sector and take on responsibility. A special component of the training is the integration of theory, practice, and personal development. At the end of the program, students complete both an internal exam and a government certification as guides. This officially qualifies them to work as tour guides. The school thus not only creates career opportunities but also promotes sustainable tourism and a greater awareness of the environment, culture, and society.
Local KID NGO
Another particularly inspiring project we collaborate with is "Local Kids," founded by Chiara Katende. This initiative has been dedicated to the education and development of children and young people in Uganda for years, establishing various projects throughout the country. These include school programs for children in Kampala, as well as educational opportunities and a vocational training center in Kitgum in the north. However, the main focus of their work is in western Uganda, where "Local Kids" has created several key facilities: a children's home, a youth center, and a primary school. These places offer children not only access to education but also a safe environment, support in their daily lives, and new perspectives for the future. The project's holistic approach, which integrates education, community, and personal development, is particularly noteworthy. During our tours, visitors have the opportunity to learn about these projects and gain direct insight into the valuable work being done on the ground. At the same time, our trips contribute to the sustainable support of "Local Kids"—through awareness, exchange, and financial contributions. This creates a connection between travelers and local initiatives that has a real impact and promotes long-term development.

Support Disabled Children GGaba
A particularly impressive project is located in Gaba, a district of Kampala. Founder Betty has dedicated herself wholeheartedly over many years to building a center for children with physical and intellectual disabilities – a place that offers hope, support, and new perspectives. Without this center, many of these children would have little chance of receiving support or adequate care. Here, they receive essential therapies, education, and loving care that significantly improves their quality of life. At the same time, the mothers are actively involved and empowered. They learn to develop their own small businesses to secure a long-term income and become more independent. The children, too, are taught practical skills to the extent they are able – for example, sewing bags or other crafts. In addition to education and support, the families also receive meals and a safe space where they are accepted and supported. This project is a powerful example of how sustainable social work can bring about real change on the ground. During our tours, visitors have the opportunity to explore this special center, talk to the people who run it, and gain an authentic insight into their work and daily lives.

background
As a sustainable travel company, we understand tourism not just as an experience, but as a responsibility. Our approach in East Africa, and particularly in Uganda, is based on actively protecting and respecting nature, wildlife, and the environment. During our tours, we consciously strive to conserve resources, preserve habitats, and provide our guests with a deep understanding of ecological relationships. Education plays a central role in this: We want to raise awareness among both travelers and local communities about topics such as sustainability, biodiversity, and the responsible use of nature.
At the same time, we see a major challenge in the fact that many people – both internationally and locally – often have only limited access to knowledge about their own environment, culture, and history. Therefore, we focus specifically on educational approaches that create awareness of one's surroundings and highlight the importance of nature, traditions, and local resources. Because only what is understood can be protected in the long term.
Another important aspect of our work is supporting local community projects. Uganda has numerous small, highly dedicated initiatives that often receive little visibility and support. We deliberately collaborate with such projects and organizations to give them a platform. Through direct contact, we offer our travelers authentic insights into local life – far removed from typical tourist routes. Our guests have the opportunity to engage in conversation with local people, learn about their perspectives, and experience both their successes and challenges firsthand.
Furthermore, we create connections: between travelers and local communities, between ideas and support, between awareness and impact. By strategically directing our tourists to these projects, we foster not only financial support but also appreciation, exchange, and long-term development. This creates a form of tourism that not only consumes but actively gives back and initiates positive change.

Goal
Our goal is to bring our guests closer to the real Uganda and East Africa – beyond classic safari experiences and tourist trappings. We want them to get to know authentic life, with all its facets, challenges, and strengths, and to experience genuine encounters with the local people. At the same time, we aim to strengthen local projects – through visibility, support, and new perspectives for growth and development. In the long term, we strive for the continued growth of sustainable tourism, raising awareness and fostering mutual understanding: between cultures, between travelers and locals, and between people and nature.
